Scripts, plugins, etc. - eingram25 - 03-15-2017 Hi. I'm using Gimp 2.8.20. Running under Windows 10. I just wondered if anyone has compiled a list of all the plugins and/or filters. I might want to go through and try to understand how to use some of them. I seem to learn best by trial and ERROR. (emphasis mine, of course) RE: Scripts, plugins, etc. - Blighty - 03-15-2017 There are probably many thousands of plugins and scripts available for Gimp. Scattered all over the internet. I don't think it would be possible to compile a list of all of them. A good starting point would be Gimp's built in filters and G'MIC. Getting to know all of these will take a long time. Another way is if you have a particular need ask here if there is a plugin that can do what you want. RE: Scripts, plugins, etc. - rich2005 - 03-15-2017 My tuppence worth. A really good way is what you are already doing, experimenting. The big snag with this is when you get an effect by serendipity, unless you keep good notes there is no real way of determining what has been done when you come back to it at a later date. Keep plenty of layers. keep stage points using New-from Visible, save xcf frequently in stages but not a total solution. The built in Gimp filters. There are plenty of these to explore and they are well documented. https://docs.gimp.org/en/filters.html Then there are collections of scripts and plugins that might/might-not contain examples of how the script/plug-in works. try http://www.gimphelp.org for older scripts updated for Gimp 2.8 shows the dialog & gives example. http://gimpscripts.com/ which has examples & links to use. best of luck, keep experimenting. RE: Scripts, plugins, etc. - RStJohn - 08-08-2017 Excellent resources, Rich. I've added the links to my ~/GIMP URL's folder for quick access. |
