hand coming out of wall - roger901 - 11-21-2018 I want to have a hand appear to come out of a wall. Of course, hand and wall would be on separate layers. Can anyone help? Thanx roger901 RE: hand coming out of wall - rich2005 - 11-21-2018 This is really going to depend on how artistic you are. Can you draw everything from scratch? I am no artist, so I might go this route. 1. Find/make a brick wall. I used a tilable pattern but a photograph of an actual brick might work. example https://i.imgur.com/HECEWfb.jpg 2. To add some realism, add some perspective. The Gimp 2.10 unified transform tool works very well. When that is set up cut out a hole in the wall. https://i.imgur.com/3NjSSuu.jpg 3. Give it some depth, paint in ends of bricks, give them a bit of shading. https://i.imgur.com/mdQvG8L.jpg 4. When thatis done add your hand. I found a superman fist that was easy to cut out very quickly but I think finding a suitable hand with some perspective might be difficult. Back to how good an artist are you. https://i.imgur.com/iu9Ew4S.jpg best of luck. RE: hand coming out of wall - roger901 - 11-21-2018 I' want to try to replicate the look of this sculpture with digital images. roger901 RE: hand coming out of wall - Blighty - 11-21-2018 Not too difficult at all. 1) Have an image with 2 layers. Wall is lower layer. Figure is upper layer. Like this: https://imgur.com/a/xN7tdGo 2) On the upper (figure) layer, create a Layer Mask and accept the default white. 3) With the Layer Mask active, paint with black to hide parts of the figure. If you make a mistake, no problem, just paint with white to re-expose parts of the figure. https://imgur.com/a/DFDZNDP As Rich said, requires some artistic talent.
