Recent internet events - Ofnuts - 04-06-2017 [attachment=444] RE: Recent internet events - trandoductin - 05-23-2017 After 20 days of upload error, it is finally fixed. The GC boat is still afloat. I thought this would be fitting for this thread. [attachment=543] RE: Recent internet events - Ofnuts - 05-23-2017 And GimpTalk: RE: Recent internet events - trandoductin - 05-23-2017 It looks vandalized! Eventually zero maintenance killed it off. This a screenshot from the internet archive of the tutorials page, about 2005 which sort of shows that very little has changed since then. Chrome/gold/icy-glow text, rusty/stony textures, glassy bumpmapped buttons. http://i.imgur.com/kzC8PuT.jpg Resurrected about 2010 http://gug.criticalhit.dk Again spam killed it off. The owner staun eventually screwed the posting requirements down to every post had to be approved, which resulted in no posts. RE: Recent internet events - Kevin - 05-24-2017 I'd be quite happy if GimpUsers went away, or at least ended it's parasitic attachment to the gimp-users mailing list. @rich do you respond to the unapproved posts on GimpUsers? because I keep getting your e-mail responses to them before their posts appear after approval RE: Recent internet events - rich2005 - 05-24-2017 (05-24-2017, 09:03 AM)Kevin Wrote: I'd be quite happy if GimpUsers went away, or at least ended it's parasitic attachment to the gimp-users mailing list. Definitely agree with that but for possibly different reasons. Quote:@rich do you respond to the unapproved posts on GimpUsers? because I keep getting your e-mail responses to them before their posts appear after approval I do not like mailing lists for various reasons, They were ok for say the old UK academic JANET mailing lists. These days, with top posting, no editing of posts, nested quotations in random order. You must have seen a top posted 'thanks' followed by a page of quotes. When it comes to GimpUsers, I only reply to unapproved posts, ie. only to GimpUsers forum members. I just wonder how they get there in the first place, there are better and more user friendly forums. ------------- Answering my own question. Just now a google search with the term 'Gimp forums' produced this. gimpforums.com I can understand this just from the search term, shame that google points to a dead site. http://www.gimpusers.com/forums OK, that is how the new forum members get there. gimp-forum.net <<< should be going there http://www.gimptalk.com <<< but not there gimpchat.com <<< down the list a bit RE: Recent internet events - Ofnuts - 05-24-2017 (05-24-2017, 09:03 AM)Kevin Wrote: I'd be quite happy if GimpUsers went away, or at least ended it's parasitic attachment to the gimp-users mailing list. We don't see the posts until they are approved? A mailing-list moderator has to approve the messages before the mailing list will send them out because they are coming from someone not signed-up to the list, whereas Rich is signed-up, so his responses don't require moderator intervention!
