How can I do angle-based colors (like the Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" album) - ktaherig - 03-28-2019 Good morning, everybody. I'd like to ask how to draw colors in selections that are based on angles, for example, like on the cover of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" album, as such: https://sxmfeed.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/pink-floyd-dark-side-of-moon-800x450.jpg?w=800 The width of the rainbow expands as it goes further away from the prism, and the width of each individual color expands right along with it at 1/6th the width of the total width at any given point along the rainbow. I know that I can easily hand-draw it, but then the ratios wouldn't be right, and it would look really, really, awfully, terribly unprofessional. Also, while I'm on the topic, I'd like to also ask how I can do fuzzy blends of the same thing, for example such as something like this: https://media.tenor.com/images/cca894af5a55f6d374e4d5bfae4cd2f3/tenor.png or this: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/YBpB9kzVkH4/hqdefault.jpg etc. Thank you all in advance RE: How can I do angle-based colors (like the Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" album) - Ofnuts - 03-28-2019 First solution: do a rectangle, fill it with rectangular strips, and then distort the rectangle with the perspective transform. You can use regularly spaced guides to help you make the strips. Second solution: use guides to position the start and end points of the boundaries, then use the guides to make trapeze selections that you bucket fill. This is a bit more complex than the solution above, but you should get slightly sharper edges between the colors. RE: How can I do angle-based colors (like the Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" album) - Blighty - 03-28-2019 The first one easy. Use selections and bucket fill. One colour per layer. See DarkSideOfTheMoon1.xcf in the attached zip. Switch layers on and off to see what each layer contains. The second one can be done with smoke brushes. I have done just one colour, but the same principle applies. One colour per layer, use a different brush for each colour. See DarkSideOfTheMoon2.xcf in the attached zip. I have also included a screen print to show the settings used. The brushes I used came from here: http://www.tutzor.com/free-photoshop-goodies/6-set-smoke-brush-photoshop (smoke_brushes___six_by_eebvoom.abr) This is a set of 6 brushes. Put the file in the brushes folder of your user profile. RE: How can I do angle-based colors (like the Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" album) - rich2005 - 03-28-2019 1. Use a grid and make successive triangular (or trapezoid) selection to fill with the colors. 2. An old script that fills in a gradient between two paths. Use a hard edged gradient. Script and example gradient attached. 3. Get some smoke brushes. A search will get something like https://www.deviantart.com/xresch/art/22-Normal-Smoke-Brushes-197982419 One big .abr file. Paint on a transparent layer. Lock the alpha. Apply a gradient. A video demo of the above. direct link https://youtu.be/yfkIbC00vs4 duration 5 minutes RE: How can I do angle-based colors (like the Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" album) - ktaherig - 03-28-2019 Thank you so much, fellas! I really appreciate all the help!! |
