Newbie Screenshot question - Kathleen - 05-27-2019

I'm starting to use Gimp after having used Paint Shop Pro for years. After an update to my laptop, PSP appears to work OK, but I can't save anything. So here I am, learning Gimp.

I can't figure out how to take a screenshot and paste it into Gimp. Tried a Google search, but couldn't find anything other than screenshots from within Gimp.

Two ways:

1) Use the computer print-screen facility. Usually a key near the F12 key. Then, in Gimp, use Edit > Paste As > New Image (or Shift-Ctrl-V).

2) In Gimp, use File > Create > Screenshot. You get the option to take a screenshot of the entire screen or a single window. For the single window set a time delay and drag a cross onto the window.
