Can't open a file from a symbolic-linked folder - mcpent - 09-04-2019 Hi everybody, I use GIMP since very early versions and I love it. I have an issue between Gimp and the Linux File System (ext4). In my home I have a folder symbolic-linked to an other folder outside the home. I have set the privilege as rw:rw:r and I'm the owner. When I open a file form that directory Gimp says that can't open it because it can't read it. If I open it with an other software like inkscape or gThumb for instance, it works just fine. Anyone as any idea? Thank you anyhow m. RE: Can't open a file from a symbolic-linked folder - rich2005 - 09-04-2019 A quick try and no problem here. Kubuntu 18.04 / Gimp 2.10.12 from the otto-kesselgulasch PPA. Nothing special with permissions, link is on the left in home, folder is on right on a data partition. Gimp opens the contents from home ok. Which linux are you using? Is Gimp a flatpak or snap? They are sandboxed which might be the problem, or an appimage. The more info you give the better. Kubuntu 18.04 / Gimp 2.10.12 from the otto-kesselgulasch PPA. Thank you. I'm on Ubuntu Budgie 19.04. Gimp is 2.10.12 Snap version. I removed the snap version and install it from the repository. Now it works... Great hint Thank you again, m. |
