Why my windows are not See-through? - drpeppercan - 02-18-2020 Hi all, As you will see in my attached .xcf file, I have 2 layers. The bottom layer has a landscape photo, while the top layer has an indoors photo with windows. I selected the windows and proceeded to delete them, thinking that the layer below would show through. But it won't! What gives?!! What am I missing? Thanks guys [attachment=3941] DPC RE: Why my windows are not See-through? - rich2005 - 02-18-2020 Quote: ...what am I missing.. Alpha channel applied to the wrong layer. Needs to be on the top layer. With the top layer active Layer -> Transparency -> Add Alpha Channel RE: Why my windows are not See-through? - drpeppercan - 02-19-2020 Thank you rich2005 I don't recall needing to manually add an Alpha channel prior to just making a see-through hole. I was under the impression that I used to just overlap the layers, and make a hole on the top one, and that was it. Did something change over the past year or so? Maybe I'm just loosing it. But if you import an image with a format that allows transparency, the alpha channel is implicit. RE: Why my windows are not See-through? - drpeppercan - 02-19-2020 Oh that's it! Most of the time I work with PNGs. But the photo with the windows was a JPG! Thank you Ofnuts |
