Fluent like smooth texture - meetdilip - 03-04-2020 Can you help me with applying smooth texture to a logo as in Microsoft Fluent design ? When I use gradient in Inkscape, it is working to some extent, but not that close. Wondering if it is different with GIMP. RE: Fluent like smooth texture - denzjos - 03-05-2020 - start a new image - select the 'gradient tool' and select a gradient (in the tool option dock) - color the layer with the gradient - make a new black layer and add an 'Alpha Channel' to this layer - in this case, draw a white vertical line on the black layer - on the menu : Colours / Colours to Alpha (default white) - done [attachment=4020] RE: Fluent like smooth texture - meetdilip - 03-05-2020 That is a nice trick. Can you please tell me how to set gradient colours. ie, top and bottom colours to our choice. Also, I am looking to add smooth matte texture. Do you know of any source ? I tried a few from Google White texture. Either it is too inivisble or too rough. Thanks. RE: Fluent like smooth texture - denzjos - 03-05-2020 Nice explanation found with google concerning gimp gradients : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMweP9aM-0w RE: Fluent like smooth texture - meetdilip - 03-05-2020 It was helpful. Thanks. RE: Fluent like smooth texture - rich2005 - 03-05-2020 A lot changed since 2010 The Gimp 2.10 gradient tool is easily adjustable on canvas. A quick demo: There are also scripts that will generate a gradient from an image. There is one in the gmic plugin. RE: Fluent like smooth texture - meetdilip - 03-05-2020 Thanks. That reduces a few steps, easy as well. |
