Extruded text with outlines? - carmen - 12-13-2020 Well, I wanted this format for text: [attachment=5326] so:
But, before I undertake it, please: Does some kind person have some tips on procedure?
I am really interested--SF fans can think of the AMAZING logo to understand...

Am I missing something ? RE: Extruded text with outlines? - Ofnuts - 12-14-2020 Oops, wrong link. See http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=11318&start=0 Thanks, Ofnuts: unfortunately, although your tip gives quite good extrusions, which can be edited further, [attachment=5336] it quite misses the 'outlines' I am after [attachment=5337] Seen through 'perspective stack', my last example looks like: [attachment=5338] where the the three topmost layers (merged together in the actual figure) show the paths for the three coloured layers just below them (2 and 3 inverted). The path just above the red background is invisible in the result, being the topmost path moved to create the extrusion. The challenge is generating paths 2 and 3 from the top: try as I would, I always end doing tons of hand edits… **Last minute notion: the blue extrusion in the first example, masked by the text, can be put to Inkscape to
RE: Extruded text with outlines? - Krikor - 12-14-2020 Carmen, I don't know if this result would be close to what you are trying to achieve. Here I used the Logo Toolbox script / plugin.[attachment=5340] As the layers are made available, some type of customization is possible in the result generated by the script / plugin.[attachment=5341] RE: Extruded text with outlines? - carmen - 12-15-2020 Thanks, Krikor, but I am looking for a far simpler effect--think of a pulp around 1930, printed on paper with the technique of the day. So far, my best automatic approximation comes from the extrusion extension in Inkscape--one has to fill the paths for the thing to work. This is the 'filling' variant (polygons)--variant lines is rather like path rungs with rungs on anchors… [attachment=5342] Of course, any way one gets too many lines/polygons: too many anchors in the font path. |
