GEGL - Negative Darkroom filter - rich2005 - 01-22-2021 Something to look for when Gimp 2.10.24 is released. For those photographers out there. In the latest Gimp 2.10.23 appimage - a new GEGL filter 'Negative Darkroom' (in Tools -> GEGL Operation at the moment) Does what it says, processes a negative to an image for printing. Excuse this example, I do not have a negative scanner or a light box so this was photographed in a slideholder against daylight. (basically against a window ) [attachment=5530] Those 'Characteristic Curve' presets might be interesting, Several under the colour option for Ilford mono film types. I'm running GIMP 2.10.36 on Ubuntu 24.04. Please advise how to add "GEGL filter 'Negative Darkroom'"? Thanks. Regards RE: GEGL - Negative Darkroom filter - rich2005 - 10-26-2024 This is in kubuntu 24.04 / Gimp 2.10.38 (1) Tools menu -> GEGL Operation (2) In the GEGL Operation dialogue, click on the drop down menu arrow (3) In the drop-down menu choose the Negative Darkroom option. My Negative Darkroom (negative-darkroom) differs from yours. Pls see the screeshot attached. Regards RE: GEGL - Negative Darkroom filter - rich2005 - 10-26-2024 ...but does it work? Do the sliders change the image ? Probably the version of Gimp you have installed, 2.10.36 That is the default version for ubuntu 24.04 and probably the snap version if you used the ubuntu software center. Do you know is it is a snap ? Not much you can do. You could try the PPA version https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuhandbook1/+archive/ubuntu/gimp or The flatpak version from gimp.org or This appimage https://github.com/TasMania17/Gimp-Appimages-Made-From-Debs/releases/tag/Gimp-v2.10.38 otherwise back to using the color-curves tool. Do the sliders change the image ?Hi rich2005, This version of GIMP came as default when I installed Ubuntu 24.04. I haven't tried it. Whether adjusting the values on the table to see the change on the image? Besides whether you suggested trying Ofnuts' suggestion? I have hundreds of negatives to convert. I'm searching for simple and straight-forwards solution, if possible. Thanks and regards |
