Schannel Event ID 36887 Error - Mr Wolf - 03-31-2021 Hi all! I noticed two errors in my Event Viewer regarding Schannel with Event ID 36887, one with error: Fatal alert received: 40 and the other one with error: Fatal alert received: 70 After some investigations, I discovered they seem related to Gimp: I get those errors whenever I start Gimp, but, oddly enough, in the computer in which I noticed them first, I also get them at boot. I'm running Gimp 2.10.22 on Windows 7 64 bit. I also tried to install Gimp 2.10.22 on another machine with Windows 7 64 bit and I get the same error, but only with code 40 and only when I start Gimp, but not at boot. I don't have the same errors on a machine with Windows 10 64 bit. I made some searches, but I haven't well understood the meaning of those errors. Perhaps Gimp is trying to connect to some server to find updates? Did anyone notice those errors, too? Thanks in advance. RE: Schannel Event ID 36887 Error - Mr Wolf - 04-01-2021 Using NirSoft CurrPorts, I discovered that, when I start Gimp, it tries to connect to IP 8.43.85.13, which says "Application is not available" (whatever it means ![]() ![]() Making some other researches, the error seems to connected to what it is discussed here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/4904 RE: Schannel Event ID 36887 Error - Ofnuts - 04-02-2021 Did you uncheck Check for updates in Edit ➤ Preferences ➤ System resources ➤ Network access? RE: Schannel Event ID 36887 Error - Mr Wolf - 04-02-2021 Hi, I posted my issue in the Gimp GitLab page, here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/6675 Thanks to Michael Schumacher for the solution. I solved the problem (which I think affects all Windows 7 users) installing the Microsoft patch from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-default-secure-protocols-in-winhttp-in-windows-c4bd73d2-31d7-761e-0178-11268bb10392 and modifying the registry. Searching for updates (also manually) didn't work, too, and now it does. (I couldn't find the option to disable the automatic search for the updates ![]() RE: Schannel Event ID 36887 Error - Krikor - 04-02-2021 (04-02-2021, 09:50 PM)Mr Wolf Wrote: ➤ Edit - Preferences - System Resources - Network Access RE: Schannel Event ID 36887 Error - Mr Wolf - 04-02-2021 Nope, I meant I was searching for it earlier, but I couldn't find it. I missed it browsing the settings, and I searched: gimp search for automatic updates option And, even now, I can't find it searching for example: "gimp" "System Resources" "Network Access" updates ![]() |
