GIF effects - meetdilip - 05-17-2021 Hi, can we add effects between images while creating a GIF ? Something like Fade ? I wonder whether there is any GIF effects plugin available. Thanks. RE: GIF effects - Ofnuts - 05-17-2021 I have a progressive-merge-0.1.py script (no documentation) at the usual place, that will generate the fade animation between two layers. But don't mistake Gimp for a video editor. At some point you are better off using video tools to generate a video, and then make a GIF out of that video. RE: GIF effects - rich2005 - 05-17-2021 Similar general comment as Ofnuts, a video editor such as OpenShot will string together png images, and add any number of transitions available. However for Gimp. An old plugin MathMap. Lots of filters available, a few of them transitions between two layers. (edit: look in the Extra-Animation section ) As you might expect, this works in RGB mode and you might have a little hand editing - remove the starting frame - reverse stack order - before assembling into a gif animation. The link to the plugin and explanations here: https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-MathMap-for-Linux It does work with an appimage, if that is what you are using. It does take a bit of practice. RE: GIF effects - meetdilip - 05-17-2021 Thanks @ofnuts @rich2005 . Yes, I am using an app image suggest by this forum. It is 2.10.25 with plugins on 20.04. I will try the script @ofnuts , :thankful @rich2005 I will check MathMap, too sleepy now. Please allow me a few hours I installed GAP through the Synaptic Package manager. But there is no option for transitions. I use Kdenlive. Perhaps it is time to check whether it offers basic text animations like Fly in, fade etc. I tried to install OpenShot from the Ubuntu store, but something went wrong. Do you think GAP is suitable for simple animations for a GIF ? I installed 2.56 or something but this link says GAP 4 is available https://www.gap-system.org/Download/ Thanks for your time RE: GIF effects - rich2005 - 05-17-2021 Packing in for the night. The old GAP packages are very flaky. Version 4 is a possibility but you will need to compile it. I always think GAP is a bit over complicated, especially for a transition. edit: A look at 'version' 4 Not Gimp-GAP but GAP a mathematical application. There is a Openshot appimage, which works ok except the webp format fails. Webp would be a great shortcut to get a transition into Gimp. Must investigate further. This the mathmap animated droste filter - with background removed - new background substituted Some additional scripts here: https://gimplearn.net/viewtopic.php?t=1037 https://gimplearn.net/viewtopic.php?t=2369 RE: GIF effects - meetdilip - 05-17-2021 I will check OpenShot. MathMap filter looks promising. Let us see which one is easier. My Avataaaaaar !! RE: GIF effects - rich2005 - 05-18-2021 (05-17-2021, 08:41 PM)meetdilip Wrote: I will check OpenShot.
