G'mic latest installer (August 2017) - rich2005 - 08-18-2017 The installer for the Windows version of the gmic_gimp plugin has changed a little. see: http://gmic.eu/download.shtml for the installer and https://youtu.be/4wXgfTIeOOs for the demo. Because it contains some files that might conflict with existing plugins, the gmic_gimp plugin installer now creates a plug-ins sub-folder for all the files. My advice. If you have a previous gmic_gimp using the provided installer, use the uninstaller via Windows. Typically look at Control Panel -> Programs -> Uninstall a Program With the new installer, run it, stick to the defaults and a new folder is created under plug-ins in your Gimp profile. At the moment, this is not automatically recognised by Gimp Start Gimp, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Folders -> Plug-ins and add that folder to the list. Restart Gimp, open an image and check, bottom of the filters menu, there is a GMIC-QT entry. It does check for updated filters, so can take a little time to start. Be patient. If you are not connected to the internet, connect up and update the filters. This is a small download, nothing to worry about. RE: G'mic latest installer (August 2017) - grit - 08-20-2017 How to make a request for GIMP developers ? I would like they insert GMIC in GIMP in official download version with latest update. It is generally not a good idea to include a large plug-in such as G'mic, incorporated into Gimp. The core G'mic (not the filters) is updated frequently, which would mean someone would need to re-compile Gimp with each G'mic update. A similar situation with RAW processing in Gimp 2.9.5 Bl**dy big applications which update with monotonous regularity, so Gimp just uses a tiny plug-in to call them if required. However if you want to make a request, go to here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=GIMP make an account, post a wish. Hi rich2005, I just installed GMIC as you demonstrate but, when I'm in GIMP, in Preferences to add the plug-in folder, the file gmic_gimp_qt.exe is display only and I'm not able to select it. What could I be doing wrong? Thanks for your help. Cheers. RE: G'mic latest installer (August 2017) - Zero01 - 10-31-2017 You only need to select the gmic_gimp_qt folder. |
