Text effect - meetdilip - 08-07-2021 Hi, It would be nice to know how to make a text effect like this. I mean, I can simply make the text and use some brush + erase. But how to make / find the right horizontal stroke brush ? Or is it something different from what I am thinking ? Thanks This brush is useful https://www.deviantart.com/screentones/art/Speed-Lines-600-DPI-95742118 [attachment=6485] RE: Text effect - rich2005 - 08-07-2021 Original looks more like a sunset image merged with a gradient, however [attachment=6487] Not exactly the same but this using only Gimp tools It does rely on a black background. Six screenshots, too many to display. Attached as two pdfs Ref: 1-glitch.pdf (1) Add some text in White over a gradient. (2) Set the text layer to image size Layer -> Layer to Image Size and (3) duplicate (as a spare - with visibility off) (4) Apply the Wind filter Filters -> Distorts > Wind Direction Left - Edge Both - Threshold maximum - Strength up-to-you (5) Apply the Wind filter again, this time with Direction Right. Ref 2-glitch.pdf (6) Add a black background to the text. If you still have the BG colour set to black, it is Layer -> Transparency -> Remove Alpha Channel' otherwise add a layer and merge down. (7) Put the text layer into multiply mode. (8) If you want it a little bolder, enable the spare text layer and set the mode to Soft Light. Edit: This plugin might be worth experimenting with https://www.gimplearn.net/viewtopic.php/Glitch-Text-Effect-Script-for-GIMP?f=3&t=1455 |
