Everything is in the title => I'm not able to bent GIMP (I'm speaking about the "Path"
)A picture is worth thousands words (the word GIMP is way smaller than the envelope, and "Path" is selected (NOT the envelope, anyway I tried also with the envelope selected

tried to restart, it does nothing.

The 'top' path is too short. The error message gives 'outside range for top envelope' and by the looks of it so is the bottom path.
Either make the paths longer or re-do the text / text path smaller. Put some guides at the start & end of the paths and fit the text between.
