Text as Active Object - ShannonC - 11-05-2021 Newbie here. First post. I need the text to be an active object (not as images, but editable text elements) in my text layer. How do I do this? I didn't see what i was looking for in a thread search, sorry if this has been answered before. RE: Text as Active Object - rich2005 - 11-05-2021 You must be thinking of some other graphics application because Gimp does not have 'objects' What you can have is a Text Layer, the layer shows with a 'Text' icon (varies depending on language) That remains editable, click on it with the text tool to bring up the on-canvas dialogue. however If you modify the text layer in any way, say apply a drop shadow, then the layer loses its text designation and becomes a regular bitmap layer.
