LAB mode - Gimpr - 09-14-2017 Hi Folks, Although I moved to GIMP several years ago, I still keep tabs on Photoshop developments. Just watched a vid ( https://petapixel.com/2017/09/14/using-lab-color-photoshop-add-color-punch-images/ ) from the Petapixel site, and was impressed with the results shown! I opened up gimp 2.9.6 (Thanks, Partha!), but LAB mode was nowhere to be found B>( Am I missing something, or is this feature to be found in a future release? . . . Thanks, Barry RE: LAB mode - rich2005 - 09-14-2017 welcome to gimp-forum.net Might be in the color-corrected-experimental which is still GIMP-2.9.5-cce-64bit.exe Best ask on https://discuss.pixls.us/ Partha does visit there. I suspect that if it was in 2.9.5, it wouldn't have been taken out in .6. I have emailed him for his comments on this post, so I'll post his reply when received . . .B>) Thanks for the quick reply! I did not install the color-corrected version, perhaps that is necessary! Thanks to all, Barry RE: LAB mode - rich2005 - 09-15-2017 Finally got around to viewing (almost-all) the video. Hate those PS ones, never know WTH is going on. While regular Gimp does not have a dedicated LAB mode, the (rough) work flow can be paralleled using a couple of utilities. G'mic plug-in http://www.gmic.eu does allow adjustment in LAB for color curves a and b curves: https://i.imgur.com/RZWOiD6.jpg and for the sky as well, the L curve: https://i.imgur.com/mKdoB5o.jpg But that needs to be masked and the luminosity masks script can be used. see: https://patdavid.net/2013/11/getting-around-in-gimp-luminosity-masks.html A before/after: https://i.imgur.com/SDcLyOg.jpg RE: LAB mode - Gimpr - 09-15-2017 (09-15-2017, 08:39 AM)rich2005 Wrote: Finally got around to viewing (almost-all) the video.
