Add sidewalk? - sl60 - 01-27-2022 [attachment=7403] Is there a way to take a flat 2D image of a building (front view, no perspective) and add a sidewalk coming off the porch entrance that looks 3D? See example. RE: Add sidewalk? - rich2005 - 01-27-2022 Using your example. Guess a horizon, there will be a vanishing point (VP) All parallel lines converge at the VP ie. Edges of the path, any joints in the path. [attachment=7404] RE: Add sidewalk? - sl60 - 01-27-2022 (01-27-2022, 09:18 AM)rich2005 Wrote: Using your example. Guess a horizon, there will be a vanishing point (VP)I'm already quite aware of this. My question isn't about what to do but how to do it in Gimp. How would I add such lines to a 2D image in Gimp? RE: Add sidewalk? - rich2005 - 01-27-2022 Now that is the sort of response guaranteed to get you overlooked. You already know all about it. Use the paint tool and get painting. However; Make a new layer Layer -> New Layer Use the rectangular select tool and make a rectangle for the path. Fill the selection / paint in it / make your pattern Turn the selection off. Select -> None Reduce the layer size to smallest size Layer -> Crop to Content Use the Perspective Tool Tools -> Transform Tools -> Perspective (shift P) example: https://i.imgur.com/kafReLE.mp4 RE: Add sidewalk? - sl60 - 01-29-2022 (01-27-2022, 06:11 PM)rich2005 Wrote: Now that is the sort of response guaranteed to get you overlooked. I said that I already know all about the principles of perspective--what I don't know is how to apply these to a flat 2D image in Gimp to simulate actual perspective lines in 3D. Thank you for the advice. RE: Add sidewalk? - rich2005 - 01-29-2022 this was your question Quote:Is there a way to take a flat 2D image of a building (front view, no perspective) and add a sidewalk coming off the porch entrance that looks 3D?
