Beautify plugin ART > Life Sketch causes error in (Windows 10 / GIMP 2.10.30) libgtk-win32-2.0-0.dll

In fact any Beautify effect fails the same way.

Have used this plugin in the past without any issues.
Noticed the error in GIMP 2.10.28 so updated to 2.10.30 but same error.
The preview pane in Beautify appears alright, but when I OK the effect I get the error message.

There are a few things you should consider.
There are no Gimp developers on this forum.
Posting on gitlab is a way of contacting the developers but the beautify plugin is a third party plugin, nothing to do with the devs.
The beautify plugin is old and abandoned, the developer last made a minor change 8 years ago.
Some parts of beautify still work, but some such as borders are broken.

A 32 bit dll error, try using the 32 bit version which you can get here: https://samjcreations.blogspot.com/2018/05/filtres-anciens-pour-gimp-210-windows.html It is a 7zip archive so you might need something like Peazip to unpack it. Use the files from the 32 bit folder

Why are your plugins there ? The place for Windows Gimp 2.10 plugins is C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins

No success ? You can always go back to an earlier Gimp 2.10 version https://download.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v2.10/windows/

Next suggestion. Use something that is up-to-date. The gimp g'mic plugin can do most of the effects. http://www.gmic.eu and examples https://www.gmic.eu/gallery/

Thanks for the suggestions.
Tried the 32 bit executables without success

Installed 2.10.24 and tried both 32 bit and 64 bit without success.

I can only guess that the problem is caused by other software that's been updated -visual studio (does that make sense)

The alternative is to find a plugin that does the same as Beautify - any suggestions

Did you come from using Gimp 2.8 ? (rhetorical question)

From your other post, this is very dubious: C:\Users\desktop\.gimp-2.10\plug-ins\beautify.exe Very probably it is the way you have installed the plugin files. However since beautify is not going to work.

Alternatives
Already mentioned the Gimp gmic plugin. This comes with a Windows installer that installs in the correct Gimp folder. http://www.gmic.eu

There are hundreds of filters and each can have various setting. Up to the user to try out.

For example, some that can be equivalent to the Beautify ART section

A whole set of presets, hundreds of them in a drop down menus. You can dump as a montage to look for a suitable preset example: https://i.imgur.com/8R2VHc0.jpg too many to show individually.

Plus of course all sorts of other effects.
