Draw and print exact dimensions - Schoppe - 04-25-2022 Hi everyone, I hope this is an easy question and someone can help. I'm trying to draw and print a picture with exact dimensions using this steps: 1. I create a DIN A4 page with 300 PPI resolution. 2. I add a rectangle at the position X: 20 mm, Y: 20 mm, which is 12 mm wide and 33 mm high. 3. I fill the rectabgle black 4. I print the image. -> The rectangle on the printed page is only 11 mm wide and 30 mm high. Is there any possibility to get this more precise? BR Schoppe Solved . I found a page that explains the issue very good. RE: Draw and print exact dimensions - rich2005 - 04-25-2022 Oh, forgot about that, it was some time ago. Here is todays version. All depends on the printer, An A4 printer will impose margins and shrink the A4 page to fit. Trim the A4 canvas so it fits between the margins. Set the Gimp Theme to system to show the 'ignore margins tick box in the print dialogue Things to look out for: https://i.imgur.com/I391vy3.jpg In the page setup dialogue, there are minimum magins (1) In the print dialogue, the X / Y resolution are greater than 300 ppi (2) Top left is 0,0 and Ignore Page Margins is ticked. (3) https://i.imgur.com/wa0OX1w.jpg Crop the canvas so that it fits. Tick delete cropped pixels, set position to 0,0 (4) and I cropped off about 20 - 30 mm from both right and bottom edges. https://i.imgur.com/CM3JY9p.jpg Now go back and check the print dialogue X / Y resolution 300 ppi is possible (5) Make sure Top left is 0,0 (6) so that the image prints in the correct place. Of course that is in Gimp, using Windows you printer also has a printer driver which contains settings for margins , scaling ... up to you to set those. |
