[split] Fake colorization - SKILKINKS35 - 09-22-2022 I don't know whether this is the right place to ask this question but if I don't ask I won't know. I have colour photos to which I would like to apply a colorization effect to make them look like colourized black and white 50s post cards. Does anyone know whether there is a filter or a special effect that would allow me to this in GIMP ? or is the only way to achieve this would be to turn my colour photos into black and white and then colorize them by colour by colour? this would be too time consuming considering I have to do this for about 50 photos!) Impossible question with no possible answer? Thank you in advance RE: [split] Fake colorization - Ofnuts - 09-22-2022 You can try this:
Original: [attachment=8717]
Result: [attachment=8718]
(yes, this could require some preprocessing of the sky to make it more uniform, and this would have let me add a few more colors in the posterization).
RE: [split] Fake colorization - PixLab - 09-23-2022 It would be nice if you give an example about the result you're searching for... like bright colors? faded colors? Partial colouring? Something like this https://c8.alamy.com/comp/KX955A/1950s-promotional-postcard-for-american-airlines-showing-the-main-KX955A.jpg or like this https://c7.alamy.com/comp/M6CX73/vintage-travel-poster-or-advertisement-from-san-onofre-beach-on-highway-M6CX73.jpg or like this https://d3525k1ryd2155.cloudfront.net/h/879/780/1408780879.0.x.jpg or like this https://i.pinimg.com/originals/6a/a7/0f/6aa70f39521f0d66c7bca0f9d54a36f8.jpg Please give an example RE: [split] Fake colorization - rich2005 - 09-23-2022 @SKILKINKS35 You could try the gimp_gmic_qt plugin http://www.gmic.eu The color presets filter has hundreds of color look up tables (LUT) bound to be some that work for you. So, ... a 50's post card ? RE: [split] Fake colorization - SKILKINKS35 - 01-04-2023 Thank you all for your answers about colorization. I have been working on colorizing my photos but I am still not happy with them Is there a way to turn one's own photos into INFRARED COLOUR photos?
