How to add FFT to GIMP 2.8 (on old Betsy version of Mint) - Moreach - 11-04-2022
I need to use descreen. I've tried to add FFT but the tutorial gives Windows directions. I can't find my C: drive.

Untested... For Debian and derivatives, download the .deb from here and install with dpkg as indicated here: dpkg -i gimp-plugin-fourier_0.4.4-1_amd64.deb. For Fedora, install from the repo: sudo yum install gimp-fourier-plugin.

My Mint version is very old, "Betsy" which is v 2!
My present GIMP is 2.8
What happened is that I became very skeptical of updates after some bad experiences in DOS 6! I'm sorry now, but the chain of updates is long gone and I'm sort of stuck in the past! My "guru" has become too old to visit and fix stuff. (He set up all my old drives as a RAID.) Meanwhile the PC is still working pretty good, if slow because of all the searching it has to do. I could upgrade GIMP if needed, but 2.8 does almost everything I need since I added GMIC. I just really need FFT.

If the OP is on a very old distro, one can wonder what there is in the repos (assuming they are still around)

Running the search engine finds no result for that. I think I had it once, but made the mistake of running Bleachbit as root, and have had trouble ever since. Search (on "all files") finds neither of those. Can I repair this somehow? I know just enough to be dangerous! I have backed up most of the files to a portable drive and am willing to try updating Mint. Or GIMP or both or? or? or?
