Snap to Layer Edges or Boundary - gotanidea - 12-14-2022 In Photoshop, there is Snap to Layer option, to snap the cropping to an edge of a layer. In GIMP, we can use Layer > Crop to Content to crop based on a layer boundary, but there is no option to snap the cropping to an edge of a layer. Please check the screenshot below and see the layer with a red rectangle in it: Layer Example How to snap the cropping to the bottom edge of the layer, since there is no Snap to Layer option? We can do this easily in Photoshop: Snap to Layer Feature in Photoshop RE: Snap to Layer Edges or Boundary - sallyanne - 12-14-2022 Someone else will be able to explain it better than me but you will find that if you use the crop tool options you can. Prolly just a different wording than snap is all. RE: Snap to Layer Edges or Boundary - denzjos - 12-14-2022 I think this is what you searching for, in the gimp menu : View / Snap to Canvas Edges RE: Snap to Layer Edges or Boundary - Krikor - 12-14-2022 (12-14-2022, 03:37 AM)gotanidea Wrote: In Photoshop, there is Snap to Layer option, to snap the cropping to an edge of a layer. What kind of came to mind was: 1- Create guides delimiting the layer.

Thanks, but I can't find New Guides from Active Layer. Do you use a plug-in or script to use that option? RE: Snap to Layer Edges or Boundary - denzjos - 12-14-2022 Move layer after 'View / Snap to Canvas Edges' [attachment=9157] Or use the 'Alignment Tool' [attachment=9158] RE: Snap to Layer Edges or Boundary - rich2005 - 12-14-2022 A diiferent way In the crop tool options enable crop current layer only That constrains the crop tool to that layer. That crops the layer. If you want to crop the whole image to the size then toggle crop current layer only off and apply the crop. example: https://i.imgur.com/s6mym0x.mp4 edit: another 25 second demo: https://i.imgur.com/9sinhtQ.mp4 RE: Snap to Layer Edges or Boundary - gotanidea - 12-14-2022 (12-14-2022, 11:41 AM)denzjos Wrote: Move layer after 'View / Snap to Canvas Edges' That snapping option only snaps the cropping to canvas edges (12-14-2022, 11:47 AM)rich2005 Wrote: A diiferent way I think this is the simplest way to do it.
