Installing G.MIC - Philippe D - 04-05-2023

Bonjour  Smile

Merci d'avance ;-)

RE: fonctionnement G.MIC - rich2005 - 04-05-2023

I have just tried out the latest gimp_gmic_qt 3.2.3 / Gimp 2.10.34 in Windows 10 and all is working.

Quote:...When reinstalling, I sometimes got error messages (4 or 5) concerning "missing or not found" dlls even though they are displayed in the installation details (in the plug-ins).

My guess is you are trying to run the gmic executable directly and get error messages like this.

Gimp plugins are run from the Gimp menu structure. Find gmic bottom of the Filters menu.

If you want it, there is a standalone gmic that is independent of Gimp, just get the GUI version from http://www.gmic.eu

Edit: Otherwise give details - Version of Gimp and where you got it ?  Version of the gimp_gmic_qt plugin ? Sometimes a screenshot of the installation helps.

@Philippe

You already have a message about using English on this forum. I deleted your post since it was just a re-quote of the previous post and added nothing to the thread.

There is no need to quote everything over-and-over. Just post anything relevant that adds information to your problem.

RE: fonctionnement G.MIC - rich2005 - 04-05-2023

@Philippe

Did you also post this one ? https://discuss.pixls.us/t/unable-to-get-gmic-to-function-after-install/36458

Looks like if you are using Gimp 2.10.34 you should use gmic_gimp_qt version 2.3.3
If using an earlier Gimp 2.10.?? then use an earlier gmic_gimp_qt version 2.3.1

RE: fonctionnement G.MIC - Philippe D - 04-05-2023

Thank you for your advice. I didn't know about the link you gave me. I will uninstall G.Mic and install it again in the version indicated. I keep you informed. THANKS.
My Gimp is 2.10.34.

RE: Installing G.MIC - Philippe D - 04-07-2023

Sorry for my late response.
I attach the error messages when starting gimp.
I uninstalled then reloaded G.Mic. Nothing has changed.
I downloaded and installed the missing Dlls (in the gimp files). Nothing changes either.
I wanted to install resynthesizer....and I have the same problem.
I do not know what to do.Cry

RE: Installing G.MIC - rich2005 - 04-07-2023

If you go to this post https://discuss.pixls.us/t/release-of-gmic-3-2/30567/327 It says

installed Gimp 2.10.32 on Win10
installed Gmic 3.2.3
Missing: libicuin72.dll, libicuuc72.dll, libpcre2-16-0.dll
updated Gimp to 2.10.34, leaving Gmic as is
no more complain, it just works.

So you need the latest Gimp 2.10.34 and the latest gimp_gmic_qt 3.2.3

...but in your case you have been messing with the Gimp paths to the plugins.

For plugins like gmic, lots of files in a folder, there is no need to add the path to the folder. The gmic folder has the same name as the gmic plugin (without the .exe extension) Gimp uses that folder.

You have also removed the path to your regular plugins folder containing the gmic folder and any other plugins you have added.

If you look at the screenshot here: https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-lost-function-in-GIMP?pid=34009#pid34009 you will see the paths you should have.

Difficult to give advice after you have been messing with file structure but what you can try is click on the button top right Reset plug-in Folders (Reinitialiser les dossiers de greffons)

--------------
Otherwise, delete your Gimp user profile C:\Users\duler\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10
Start Gimp to make a new empty default profile.
Close Gimp
Get the gimp_gmic_qt version 3.2.3 Windows installer and install it.
Start Gimp.

-------------
Resynthesizer and the heal selection plugins are another issue. Where did you get them ?
Use the Partha version attachment from here: https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Resynthisizer-Heal-Selection-Runtime-Error?pid=12687#pid12687

RE: Installing G.MIC - Philippe D - 04-12-2023

Hello,

I took some time to keep you informed.
I have tried everything. Complete uninstall of Gimp to reinstall it. I applied your advice regarding the path.
I uninstalled then reinstalled G.Mic in zip version and installer version.
Result: I still don't have a "G.Mic" mention at the bottom of the Gimp "filters" menu.
Did I forget to validate somewhere? I don't know....

I attach 2 screenshots to give you an overview of my installation.

RE: Installing G.MIC - rich2005 - 04-12-2023

Better to keep the gimp_gmic_qt pluginin its own folder.

No need to keep reinstalling Gimp. That rarely fixes anything.

I would delete all those files in the plugin folder, then use the installer, not the zip.

Check-list:
Gimp is version 2.10.34 http://www.gimp.org
gimp_gmic_qt is version 3.2.3 https://gmic.eu/files/windows/gmic_3.2.3_gimp2.10_win64.exe

Run the gimp_gmic_qt installer and it adds the gmic folder to the plugins folder. Start Gimp

After installation it looks like this: 40 seconds demo https://i.imgur.com/gUtk8zu.mp4

That is all I can advise. I do not know what you are doing.

No you did not!

Rich2005 asked you to try
Quote:Otherwise, delete your Gimp user profile C:\Users\duler\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10
Start Gimp to make a new empty default profile.
Close Gimp
Get the gimp_gmic_qt version 3.2.3 Windows installer and install it.
Start Gimp.

Did you do it?

You can uninstall / re-install GIMP a thousands time, this will not delete your GIMP's user profile...
