Photoshop skin tone matching help - kidbwapo - 05-01-2023

Hi
I need some photoshopping help. I have a beach pic with a bunch of people in it and I need to photoshop another person in from a different picture. I'm having real trouble matching the skin tones from the photoshopped image to make it look reasonably authentic.

Is there an easy way to do this or a good guide anywhere?
Thanks

Not easy, but a guide: https://patdavid.net/2012/07/getting-around-in-gimp-more-color/

...but it all depends on the images.

tried that link and got a 404.

As for rich2005's reply I would also add, try and enhance your photos separately first until they look the similar then put them together

Very often, skin tone is just a matter of color temperature, some playing with Color > Color temperature can be enough, especially considering that no two people have the exact same skin tone.

And when transplanting people in other photos, most of the problem is lighting and shadows anyway.

Another method that I also really like to use is the one described in the post https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Matching-subjects-together-in-background?pid=17617#pid17617

At least in the images where I used this method I really liked the results.
