RE: clone - silverbirch2003 - 08-30-2023 RE: clone - sallyanne - 09-01-2023 Your toolbox is open. The tools are in groups. You can change that in preferences and also make them colour if you go to the place pix told you too. There you can also make your icons larger. You still do not have the tool options dialog open - would help when using certain tools as things can be changed in the options according to what you want done. Very few tools do not have options. By the way I find it easier to have your tool options dialog below your tools RE: clone - rich2005 - 09-01-2023 @silverbirch Nice photo For the color icons follow the PixLab advice in the earlier post. More of the same https://i.imgur.com/PN7yFgF.jpg If you want to show all the tools ungrouped that is in Edit -> Preferences as well https://i.imgur.com/sH8dMrW.jpg If you want to go back to the way Gimp displays as a new setup, again in edit preferences https://i.imgur.com/aGM8ooc.jpg and that of course gets the tool options back. That might be a good option for you. For restoring just the tool options the problem with the Windows -> Dockable Dialogues -> Tool options is it puts the tool option in the right-hand side docks along with brushes etc. To get it back in the left-hand side (1) use the little arrow (2) then add tab and follow the menu. [attachment=10301] There is a option to lock that tab into place (3) One thing to note, Gimp saves windows setups / Tool states when closed, Open Gimp and it is as you left it. Great for an experienced use but maybe not always for the best. That can be altered in Edit -> Preferences as well, but it is another story. ...Into the Edit -> Preferences and.... In the Tool Options section. Untick Save Tool Options on Exit Click on Save Tool Options Now into Window Management section Untick Save window position on Exit Click on Save Window Positions Now into Input Devices section Untick Save input device settings on exit Click on Save Input Device Settings Now OK and exit RE: clone - silverbirch2003 - 09-01-2023 many thanks I have now got large, colour icons I used to go to tools...... then hit new toolbox and would get small window appear say for clone I could then expand that windo and make very accurate setting for opacity... size etc I dont seem to be able to do that now and have to work in that crampt 1" column on right hand side is there any other way to get the tool box to come up ? Is this a 4k display, you seem to have plenty screen space. The right-hand side dock width is not fixed. Hover the mouse on the joint with the main window, get the icon to change and drag the docks to a new width. This animation making the dock wider and detaching the tools option to get the floating dock you like https://i.imgur.com/QIXUdHo.mp4 Really I do not advise that, remember I said that Gimp remembers the last settings. Detatch the dock -> close the Dock and you are in your present situation. Learn to drag the floating dock back alongside the other tabs. As well as making the docks wider you can make the text and sliders larger using a plugin from here: http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=19154&start=10#p261235 And it might look like this: https://i.imgur.com/Q5AndkL.mp4 RE: clone - silverbirch2003 - 09-01-2023 still cant find that drop down ....... tool options .......... to fix the clone alignment That trick of dragging the tool box over..... once a 1 inch column on the right hand side...... gives me a good view of tool settings so I prob dont need to have a seperate toolbox window |
