Gimp Terminal message on start up - MAC Mini Sonoma OS - tonenuff - 10-28-2023

Hi all,

I recently installed GIMP on my new Mac Mini with Sonoma OS and on start up of the machine, I receive this message every time on Terminal:

Last login: Sat Oct 28 09:46:13 on console
/Applications/GIMP.app/Contents/Resources/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/file-jpeg/file-jpeg ; exit;
antonycosta@Mac-mini-2023 ~ % /Applications/GIMP.app/Contents/Resources/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/file-jpeg/file-jpeg ; exit;
/Applications/GIMP.app/Contents/Resources/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/file-jpeg/file-jpeg is a GIMP plug-in and must be run by GIMP to be used

Saving session...
...copying shared history...
...saving history...truncating history files...
...completed.
Deleting expired sessions...none found.

[Process completed]

Has anyone else had this issue and know what it is? Do you know how to correct it? If anyone knows how I can stop this coming up each time, I would appreciate the information. I ran Gimp on my old machine, also a Mac Mini, but I never had this issue.

Thanks in advance,

Tony

Is this when you start Gimp ? Certainly come across that before but only when the user is trying to run the Gimp plugin ("file-jpeg") on its own in a terminal. Plugins run from within Gimp.

Do you get the message using Gimp and File -> Open ?

I do not use MacOS, if you can give more details the better.

Looks like you gimp command runs a (bad) script and not the Gimp binary. What in the answer to the type gimp command in a terminal? And if the answer contains a file path, what is the answer to the file {the_path}?

You should have an icon somewhere to start Gimp? Why are you using the terminal?

This is when I start the machine, after logging in, this terminal file pops up. I have no issue starting Gimp and get no message when I do, this only comes up at that time. I never had this issue before and this machine is new, so I do not know what the issue is.

I am not using terminal to start Gimp, as I stated this happens on start up of the machine. As for your other questions, unfortunately I do not know the answer to what you are asking.

So, that means that something added a link to that plugin in whatever acts as a "startup folder" in your OSX. Can you get a list of auto-started apps?

Thank you! That fixed it. I was able to find the list of auto started apps and there was an added item called "file-jpeg", so I removed it and restarted the machine and the terminal pop up is now gone.

Thank you for the help, it is greatly apprecated.
