can I make this font effect into its own font? - gib65 - 12-08-2017
Hello,
I created the image below in Gimp:

What I did was I typed out "nuclear powered engine" and then selected the text and stroked it with red.
Now I'm wondering if it's possible to make this into a customized font--that is, a yellow font that is automatically stroked in red (1 pixel thick). Is this possible?

You cant save styles at the moment in Gimp.
I guess it could be scripted, but is it really worth it, considering it takes 30seconds of time to give your text a yellow colour and stroke the path ?
If its just the text you need, you could type it in Inkscape, apply fill and strokecolours, then save, and retype everytime you want to do something with it.
Also adding text to raster images is no problem in Inkscape.
I switch a lot between Inkscape and Gimp, exporting and importing layers, because some things can be made better by combining the strengths of both programs.

It is possible to turn it into a "font".

But as Esper says yours is very quick and easy to re-create each time it is needed. Is it worth the effort to turn it into a "font"?

But these custom fonts are bitmap fonts, right ?

Yes, these "fonts" are bitmaps

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Yes, the method in that link seem like too much work for what I want to do. But it's good to know it's available.
