Can't shrink the top-right dock. - tomatoSauce23 - 10-26-2024 The first screenshot shows its maximum size and the second its minimum. How do I change the limits on the size that it can take please? [attachment=12492] [attachment=12491] RE: Can't shrink the top-right dock. - rich2005 - 10-26-2024 The navigation dock ? I assume you have used the "hot-spot" between the docks to get to the "minimum" Just my opinion, but do you really need the navigation dock ? I have managed for twenty years without it It is duplicated with the icon, (same as your dock icon. a little upward arrow with your theme) bottom right corner of the main window. Click on that to get a navigation window. The size by default is tiny but change it in Edit -> Preferences -> Interface -> Navigation preview size (drop down menu - tiny to gigantic) A quick demo of that https://i.imgur.com/wgg2QNI.mp4 RE: Can't shrink the top-right dock. - tomatoSauce23 - 10-29-2024 (10-26-2024, 02:20 PM)rich2005 Wrote: The navigation dock ? I assume you have used the "hot-spot" between the docks to get to the "minimum" This question isn't about the "Navigation Dock". It doesn't matter which "Dock" is selected in the top-right window, it will never shrink by more than that. So apparently there is no fix for this or else someone would have answered, which is kind-of absurd: why on earth shouldn't I be able to shrink that window further? When cooking in the kitchen, it's not like the 'left' side of counter can only ever grow to one-third the full size of the counter. As an aside, the "Navigation Dock" is good, and I don't want to "cope" without it, like I don't want to "cope" with no heating by wearing lots of layers and like I don't want to "cope" without a car by using a horse-and-cart. So apparently there is no fix for this or else someone would have answered, Well that is not quite true. It does somewhat depend on the function selected for the dock, Although admittedly less than consistent. I am using linux here, which is where Gimp comes from, so Windows might be different. If I open Gimp, no image, I can get the layers down to a minimum (1) Add an image and some layers, it does grow but comes with scroll bars to scroll up and down the window (2) Some come without scroll bars, your example with the navigation window is one. The one that always gets me is the dynamics editor which is large (3) Unfortunately that size is persistent and switching back to the layers, I lose the vertical scroll bar. (4) [attachment=12499] I have been using Gimp long enough to live with that (I have fixed dock sizes on a Gimp restart) but I understand your annoyance. Maybe put in a feature request for scroll bars on all windows to the Gimp developers. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues RE: Can't shrink the top-right dock. - tomatoSauce23 - 10-29-2024 @rich2005 Well thanks for that anyway. It looks like the upper-right window is cursed to be that way, at least on Windows OS. It's not a huge deal as I can just place whichever dock I need to have more space in the upper-right window and the other in the lower-right one instead. Maybe I'll fix it myself if I ever learn Python. It's odd though, because I'm sure it's only recently started behaving this way... |
