Problem creating meme text, previously worked - padre_two - 10-28-2024 I've been using GIMP forever to create meme text (shadows behind the text). My process hasn't changed, but all of sudden today, it's not working. Here are the steps I usually do: 1. Open the image 2. Add text 3. Select the Text layer and select "Alpha to Selection" 4. Select "Grow" under the Select tab and choose size 5. Create a background layer 6. Move the background layer behind the text 7. Select the background layer 8. Select "Edit" and choose "Fill with FG Color" Normally, it creates a black shadow. Now, nothing. Any ideas? I'm using v2.10.36 on Windows 11. Thanks! RE: Problem creating meme text, previously worked - denzjos - 10-28-2024 Windows10 , gimp 2.10.36 : no problem wit your workflow. Do you use the right color to 'Fill with FG Color4' ? If you fill with the same colour as the background layer colour then you see no 'shadow'. RE: Problem creating meme text, previously worked - rich2005 - 10-28-2024 As denzos post above and Do you get the crawling ants showing for the selection ? Does the fill tool icon have a "barred" indicator. That can happen if the transparent layer is locked by accident. [attachment=12497] Probably a tool setting. changed and not noticed. Try Edit -> Preferences -> Tool Options and Reset Saved Tool Options to Default. I changed the FG color to other colors, and still no joy. (10-28-2024, 07:27 PM)rich2005 Wrote: As denzos post above and It wasn't the "Lock pixels", it turned out to be the "Opacity". Somehow it got turned down to 0. I noticed on your screenshot, it should have been 100. That did it! No idea how that got changed. Thanks! |
