Can't get G'MIC-Qt plug-in to show up - Brian - 11-26-2024

I've tried running the installer for G'MIC, as well as the zip version and manually extracting it (it's in it's own folder) to the plug-ins folder, but I can't get it to show up in the filters menu. I'm using GIMP portable version 2.10.38 on Windows 11. I've used plugins in the past without issue. I'm also using one of the two plug-ins folders that show up in preferences/folders.  Anything else I can try?
Doing some reading, I've seen other people having trouble with it because of some DLL's it needs that aren't included.

Is this the Gimp version from PortableApps.com ? If it is, the problem could just be the Win11 / Gimp 2.10.38 mix. I do have a Gimp 2.10.36 portable / Win 10 (VM) for a quick try-out.

It is not a good installer, it can leave the Gimp User profile missing folders such as plug-ins. Up to the user to add them.

Putting the gmic_gimp_qt folder into the system plug-ins folder works here.

An altenative is put the gmic_qt_folder into the portablegimp folder and add the path in Edit -> Preferences -> Folders although you might have to add more than once for differnt computers.
