Achieving a long shadow effect with shadow angle spreading out? - jez9999 - 12-28-2024 Is it possible to achieve a long shadow effect in GIMP where the long shadow spreads out, as if coming from a central point? Here's an approximate example of what I mean, which I did by separating the text into 3 parts and applying separate long shadows to each: [attachment=12845] It should give the general idea but it's only an approximation; each letter should have a different shadow angle pointing out from the letter towards an imaginary circle behind it. I can't see any way to do this. Thinking about it, it'd make sense for the long shadow filter to have a "spread" option, where 0 does the current behaviour, negative would modify the angle so the shadow converged, and positive would modify it so the shadow diverged. You might get something playing with this old script (zipped, attached, unzip and put in your Gimp scripts folder C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\scripts ) [attachment=12846] Make some text Path from text Path duplicated - stretched - moved The plugin Filters -> Render -> Path Blend applied. RE: Achieving a long shadow effect with shadow angle spreading out? - jez9999 - 12-28-2024 Is it attached? I don't see the attachment. RE: Achieving a long shadow effect with shadow angle spreading out? - rich2005 - 12-28-2024 yep, forgot to attach - fixed now , getting old and absent-minded RE: Achieving a long shadow effect with shadow angle spreading out? - jez9999 - 12-28-2024 Hmm, well it seems to run extremely slow. Unusable, really, pretty much just sits there spinning the wheel. Ah well, I guess this is why people pay for Adobe stuff. RE: Achieving a long shadow effect with shadow angle spreading out? - denzjos - 12-29-2024 Maybe this workflow can help you (found on GC) : http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=18699 Also cheap to use RE: Achieving a long shadow effect with shadow angle spreading out? - rich2005 - 12-29-2024 (12-28-2024, 09:49 PM)jez9999 Wrote: Hmm, well it seems to run extremely slow. Yes, it is slow but not unusable, however no one is forcing you to use Gimp so back to P$ - bye-bye RE: Achieving a long shadow effect with shadow angle spreading out? - Ofnuts - 12-29-2024 Also: http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=11318 |
