Blurry GIMP interface on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6
#1
I tried to install the latest version of GIMP on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6.
The installation was successful, however once I launched GIMP, the interface seems quite blurry (most of the icons and buttons as well).
The same applies, when I open any photo with GIMP.

Please check the following screenshots:

Any clue on why this could happen, please ?
Thanks,

All those screenshots look perfect here. I suspect some hardware issue with the Mac display.

Does your computer use a HD monitor?

Thanks for your answer. I am using a macbook pro, 2017 with a 13.3-inch (2560 x 1600) retina display.

check for example the attached to gimp photo in the following screenshot:

the attached photo is crystal clear, but when I open it with GIMP, it becomes blurry

There is nothing really recent about the problem. No (new) bug reports that I can see.

The unlikely fix seems to be work at 200% zoom. (I think I read that wrong in the articles, it is the doubled retina display)

I see you are using legacy icons, Does the color set work? Is it any better?

I use linux and HD (1980x1080) displays so not really in a position to test anything. Not many (none) regular Mac users on this forum.

I just read this comment from Partha Bagchi about display issues (2016)

Quote:I see. I haven't noticed any ill-effects of using my GIMP build on my Macbook pros Mid 2014 (retina display). But that's me.

It might be worth trying his Mac version http://www.partha.com which is Gimp 2.10.4

Thanks Smile I think it's an issue related to the Retina screen

This image is only 2372x1562. Is it cropped or is it the full screen? Because if the display does on-the-fly rescaling due to a size mismatch, it looks a bit blurry.
