Hi Guys. I am using Gimp 2.8.14 on Windows 10 and my projects keeps loosing layers after saving and reopening the project files. I save my files as .xcf and when I open it the next day there are several layers missing. The background layer and several pictures will be lost. The file size is still the same as the day before but several layers are missing. After a few attempts, Gimp will inform me that the file is corrupt.

Can I recover them. It's a lot of work.
Thank you

Usually when layers are lost / scrambled when saving to .xcf the whole image is corrupt and gone for ever.
Are you sure that is the version you saved and not an earlier version of the same image file ?
Also you should update your version of Gimp. The current is now 2.10.18 There were improvements starting with Gimp 2.10.14
From the 2.10.14 change log: "Better loading of corrupted XCF files". However, do not raise your hopes.

Thank you,
I apologize. I was not operating Gimp properly.
I mixed visible layers in one. I had some groups of layers. No layer was visible, but the group was. I didn't expect it could make me loose layers.
So I have understood group of layers get lost in new layer.
