Interface broken
#1
Hi all,

I use GIMP to create YouTube thumbnails and have recently noticed a problem with the UI - it seems like it's mis-aligned with the mouse on my Mac?

I use the software on MacOS 11.2.1 and it's only been like this for the last couple of weeks, although it was around a month since I last used it.

Not only am I unable to align buttons on the interface with my mouse, when I open an image file, the application locks-up and although the menu bar responds, I cannot do anything with it.

Has anyone else experienced this behaviour? I can't decide if it's been caused by a software update for MacOS or something else.. I have uninstalled, re-installed and updated to v 2.10.22 (rev 3) - nothing has resolved the problem.

Can anyone help? The application is currently totally unusable and I can't publish anymore content until I can get around this!

I would go to Gimp > File > Preferences and check Icon Themes. Try out some themes like 'Legacy' and if that doesn't fix it try 'Reset' from the bottom of the box.

The usual question. Was working, not working now, what changed ?

A macOS update (to bigsur which is causing all sorts of problems) ?
The Gimp update to macOS 2.10.22 rev3 ?
Hardware changes - dual monitors for example.

Several reports of offset-cursor problems but nothing very recent.
As well as previous advice, try changing the whole theme to 'System' in Edit -> Preferences -> Themes
Try a revert to an earlier version of Gimp. 2.10.14 is there: https://download.gimp.org/mirror/pub/gimp/v2.10/macos/
A different version of Gimp 2.10.22 - https://www.partha.com/
