How to set the canvas ratio switch always on ?

Can one set the aspect ratio toggle switch from the 'Set Image Canvas Size' always 'on'  (locked) ?

Can't see that you can. Maybe you will have to always check it be changing your size. Someone else here may know if you can htough

I cannot find anything either, nothing obvious and nothing hidden.

I cannot see any reason why the width / height link is not persistent either in the same session or when 'fixed' under preferences > tool options. But it isn't

You would probably need to alter the Gimp code and recompile for a fix

It is the same with Gimp 2.8 so it has been that way for some time. Maybe make it a feature request at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues for the future.

Alternatives ? I have a little plugin, basically a modified border plugin that increases the canvas size proportionately but truthfully just as easy to use the Image > Canvas entry and suffer the link annoyance.

Rich, thanks for your reply. On the other hand, clicking the aspect ratio icon takes a little effort. So, it is what it is. I can live with it. I just wanted to know if it was possible.
