I can't find my settings on my old drive
#1
I actually have 2 internal drive on my computer, the old one with Ubuntu-MATE and all my GIMP things
and the new one with MX Linux and new GIMP, thus I'm fetching things to my old drive from MX Linux, no problem, but my GIMP fonts' directories are empty... thus I'm a bit confused of where are my old settings stored Huh
I speak about the settings like grouping fonts, etc... that I did made for fonts, gradients, patterns, etc... For reference > https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Font-m...1#pid38821

usr/share/gimp/2.0/fonts/
and
home/patrice/.config/GIMP/2.10/fonts/
are empty on my drive where Ubuntu-MATE is Confused

I would like to bring back all my GIMP config and installed fonts/script/everything ➤ Not in mass, but slowly as it needs some clean-up on the way

Thus my question is where are those settings that I input manually like this example https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Font-m...1#pid38821
Thanks for reading (not sure if I understand what I wrote Undecided )

My fonts are in ~/.fonts

and the GIMP tags are in ~/.config/GIMP/2.10/tags.xml

As previous post and...

Presumably you have a separate home folder/partion for each installation. When it comes to Gimp 2.10 I can see no reason why you cannot transplant the whole Gimp  User Profile ~/.config/GIMP/2.10/ from one installtion to the other.

With a caveate, I have two computers (kubuntu 22.04 & 24.04). a common named folder for each system. ~/rich/gimp210 containing folders for each resource. Paths added to the Gimp user profile and no possible confusion between systems.

Another common folder for fonts is ~/.fonts Anything In there available to all applications. For example, tagged as ms-fonts

usr/share/gimp/2.0/fonts/  - always empty unless you add fonts to it. It is for a network Gimp accessed by several users.
home/patrice/.config/GIMP/2.10/fonts/ - should contain any fonts you put there. Empty ? What have you run to empty it ? You do have a backup somewhere, don't you Wink
