Gimp 3.0 print menu missing "Image Settings" tab
#1
I recently upgraded to Gimp 3.0 flatpak from 2.10
Runnning on Linux Mint 20.2, Cinnamon 5.0.7
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor × 8, 31.3 GiB memory, NVIDIA Corporation TU116 [GeForce GTX 1660 Ti]
I'm using Turboprint 2.57-1 driver to interface to a Epson Stylus Photo R2880 image printer, also a Brother laser printer

In Gimp 2.10, the print menu had a "Image Settings" tab, which has disappeared in Gimp 3.0.
This tab is very important because it allows to set the image size and position on the printed page.
I tried every menu option I could find related to this but could not find a solution. I have to revert to 2.10 to print images.
The "Image Settings" tab is available in 2.10 for my various printers, not only for the Epson R2880. Also, that menu is available in other image processing software, but not in the new Gimp 3.0

Does anybody have information on this please?

I do not have a flatpak installation to try out. (dumped my last old one in a Mint VM just last week) but it is probably the flatpak itself.

There can be problems printing from a flatpak (one of the reasons I do not use it. ) https://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/sandb...sions.html and a tool for that https://flathub.org/apps/com.github.tchx84.Flatseal (use with great care)

Using a Gimp 3.0 appimage and that "Image Settings" tab is there and does show the image pre-view.

Maybe post it as a bug. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues

If you want a permanent install there is a PPA https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuhandbook1/+...ntu/gimp-3
Not sure about LM 20, is that equivalent to 'buntu 22.04 ? EDIT: A quick check - NO

Try out the Gimp 3.0 appimage, which will run alongside your existing Gimp 2.10

Photomar2025, rich2005: Hi! The issue with flatpak was reported here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/11696

One of the many things we'll be able to get around to now that 3.0 is out. Smile

Many thanks for the replies and the proposed solutions. Will probably go the route of the appimage for the time being.
