Really need more information. Much depends on the number of 'tiles' - 6 or 600
For lots of tiles there is the align tool, https://docs.gimp.org/2.10/en/gimp-tool-align.html not so easy to use. You can distribute a set of tiles as rows. Then use those and distribute them as columns. It does mean you have to have the tiles in order and they need a regular size for an offset.
For a small number of tiles you could try
Make a canvas larger than the original. Add a transparent layer.
Space the tiles out roughly in order
Add guides so you can move the tiles into groups of 4 (or 2)

Make sure View -> Snap to Guides is on.
Move groups of tiles so they snap to a guides intersection.
Layer -> New from Visible to get the tiles in one layer.

Now use Image -> Zealous Crop to remove any transparency between the groups of tiles.
