I managed to use Tools > GEGL > ColorWrap successfully. I tried the layer and fill method, my attempts were not very close as GEGL.

But how do you pick the red colour through the colour picker? I had to use another layer merged with required colours to this layer. So I had to work with a pretty zoomed out image.
