what a pity to read this.
Before I switched to Linux Mint from Windows just over a year ago I thought that as GIMP was largely developed by Linux users it would be easy to get an up to date version of GIMP (sometimes there was a delay before the Windows exe file was available) - how naive I was
For a while I when was looking at some GIMP bugs and working on a change I was building GIMP on Windows - looks like I might now have to build it on Linux - particularly as Linux Mint 20 has dropped GIMP. The main problem with building GIMP is that the goalposts keep being moved (dependencies changed and added etc.)
I know that there is the flatpak version available but I'm not prepared to put up with the limitations this imposes.
So I agree with you that it's a pity that Thorsten has stopped for the time being.
