Also sorry to see Thorsten Stettin cease production, There have been periods of inactivity in the past, I hope he is ok and can continue sometime in the future.
Just had a look at Mint20, I am updating my desktop OS and considered Mint20 in place of Kubuntu 20.04. However it is same as 'buntu 20.04, Gimp is 2.10.18 and missing gimp-python packages. That can be installed see: https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Heal-S...1#pid18351 to provide support for all those python plugins. I have not got round to checking gmic_gimp_qt yet but I assume it can work.
There is the flatpak version which now has some install-able plugins to go with it. see: https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Linux-...8#pid18838
Also the Gimp appimage series which is the one I will use. Gimp 2.10.20 works very well.

Back to the old days and compile yourself, but all those .dev packages make for a cluttered installation and really I am not that much interested while there are still ready-mades's around.
