GIMP 2.10 fails to open because of GEGL old version

Check /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgegl-0.4.so. It is a link that points to the actual version used. Gimp has becomes quite sensitive to Gegl versions recently since even minor releases use recent Gegl functionality. If you are on Gimp 2.10.20 you may need Gegl 0.4.24). Also check your PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH, any leftovers from earlier installs (in /opt or /usr/local)?
