Basically description text entered by a human so likely not there if you have to ask what it is.
If you have a JPG image that already has the IPTC meta data, and you modify that image in gimp and then save as a JPG with the "save IPTC data" box unchecked, does that erase the previously existing data, or just leave it undisturbed?
