Actually pre-Gimp 2.10. n-point came in from a google sponsored summer-of-code 2013 Still Gimp 2.8 then.
Yes now I recall it was a google summer code
anyway, n point never really worked consistently with me, I recall that if I was using it more than 3 - 5 transformations, it was just hanging or GIMP shutted down abruptly, just like that -> no more GIMP
