Quote:Gimp is clearly a very feature rich program and the problem is me, not the program. I made the mistake of thinking I could just dive in and use it, given that this has been successful for me with some other software. I took this approach because I am only a casual (infrequent) user of Gimp. But, what I really need to do is step back and find a good tutorial for new users that will give me a better grounding.
Hello AVLSTU
We all had to start the 'no end to learning The Gimp' sometimes just trying FX on a disposable image is a great way to learn with no pressure.
Although not a new Ebook ( it does show many tool uses ) could help somewhat with getting familiar with the Gimp,
here is it
http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=19065
gimpchat BTW has many good tuts
another is https://www.littlewebhut.com/gimp/ , video tuts similar to YT
I look for a tut I'd like the result of and just go for that, try search engine 'Gimp tutorials' that should list many sites.
Hope it's helpful
