project smaller image into a bigger one

This is what I want to do - to expose the logo symbol on the background blue screen.
Exactly as done by you in the attached xcf file.
However, I would like to use the same colors, as in the original image - blue background and dark blue symbol color (not sure if any % transparency has been used).
In addition I need the (red) border of the symbol to be deleted.
As a whole, I am using the portable version of GiMP.
Could this be the reason, why I have a littlebit different view on my version of GiMP?
