This could force GIMP a writing in the user profile preferences.

It was selected and changing ti 1:1 made it worse (obviously).

but it is maximised. I use 4 screens so I have one designated to the program
I just have one screen (monitor) so I can't test this but how are the 4 screens divided by your applications ? Is GIMP present on the first (main) screen? What is used to (wireless) connect the screens : windows  screen settings ? Have you checked these?
