Changed the entry in the hosts file to the correct IP and GC works.

You shouldn't have one. The only time when this can be needed is when they they forget to renew the "gimpchat.com" domain, and GC disappears from the name servers(*). Otherwise having one does more harm than good because if the site is moved you won't see it.

(*) unless local authorities are asking your ISP to block "gimpchat.com", which is often done by making the ISP name servers return 127.0.0.1 which is the "localhost" address.
