Why am I getting black and white images after I export an image that is full color
#1
Hello, computer terminology is a weakness, so please forgive any errors.

I have been using Gimp for years. I just installed the new version 3.0.0-1. I opened an .xcf file that I had used in an older version (2.10.28). After making some changes to the file, I exported a .png image - it seemed to work fine, creating an image of 4.23 mb with dimensions 2048 x 2048 pixels. I made more changes and exported 7 more .png images. These images, however, did not export correctly. They went to black and white. creating an image of between 170 and 178 kb with a dimension of 1024x1024. I tried to reexport them, clicking the "reset to default" option on the exporting pop-up. Same problem occurred. I closed Gimp and reopened it. Same issue.  I am stuck.

On a related note: I have noticed that the new version of Gimp puts any pasted item into its own layer instead of allowing me to paste it onto the layer I am working on. How do I fix that?

I have attached a picture of the two images.

Thanks for any assistance!
